Sulfur – Homeopathic Remedy for …. Coughs, Congestion & a Multitude of Other Ailments
This is interesting. I was researching for a homeopathic remedy for chest congestion that is hanging on from a bad viral infection. It would seem the remedy is sulfur, and so I shall visit my friendly health food store and pick it up. Now, what I also found was an article defining a “Sulfur” personality….and thought, WOW, it sure sounds like me, and I think those who know me would agree, especially with regards to the fiery personality, the eclectic tastes and interests, creativity, etc. All quotes are taken from the site hyper linked into the word “sulfur” above. This is what the article has to say:
Personality profile
Elemental Sulphur has always been associated with fire. Sulphur is flammable and burns with a stench, which can be smelt at the site of an erupting volcano, and brimstone (the naturally occurring form of mineral sulphur), is said to fuel the fires of hell. When Sulphur powder is left on the skin it produces a burning irritation, hence its use homeopathically for skin diseases. Even the mineral’s yellow hue reminds us of its fiery affinities. The Sulphur individual is fiery in every sense of the word. Fire has always been used to represent the Divine Spirit in mankind, which lights up the clay of the physical body. There is a distinct spiritual element to most Sulphur individuals, which is inspirational rather than merely intellectual. Fire also represents the passions, and there is no more passionate type than Sulfur, whether one is considering the appetites of-the flesh, intellectual inspiration, romantic love, or zealous enthusiasm for virtually anything under the sun. Whatever interests Sulphur he pursues passionately. Fire is also anger, and Sulphur’s vivacity can easily spillover into irritation and outright rage when his determined will is blocked, or he feels wronged in some way. Finally, fire represents the spark of creativity and genius. Sulphur individuals are generally very creative people, particularly intellectually. All of the great scientific and philosophical minds recorded in history were Sulphurs, from Socrates to Einstein, as well as the greatest of the great composers. The world would be a dull place without Sulphur’s inspiration, optimism and eccentricity.
As for sulfur and its homeopathic uses, besides what I require it for, it also aids in ridding us of the following symptoms. Oh, and of course, sulfur is referred to in the Bible, but is called brimstone!
Uses
Sulfur is mainly used to treat skin conditions, such as eczema, candidiasis, or diaper rash where the skin looks permanently dirty and is dry, scaly, itchy, red, and worse from being scratched, and a dry scalp.
Digestive complaints that are helped by this remedy include a tendency to regurgitate food; indigestion that is worsened by drinking milk; vomiting and chronic diarrhea that occur early in the morning; hunger pain with a sinking feeling in the stomach that occurs around 11 a.m.; itchy, burning hemorrhoids; redness and itching around the anus; and anal fissures.
In women, Sulfur is effective for premenstrual syndrome symptoms, for example, headaches, irritability, and insomnia, and menopausal symptoms, such as flushing, dizziness, and sweating.
Sulfur is also given for mental stress, lack of energy and willpower; forgetfulness; irritability; depression; disturbed sleep with nightmares; early waking; and indecision.
Other ailments helped by Sulfur include: fever; headaches; migraines; conjunctivitis and red eyes; chronic nasal discharge with greenish mucus; coughs with sneezing; low back pain from prolonged standing, bending, or sitting, or due to menstruation.
When ill, people who need Sulfur are sensitive to bad smells, and are thirsty more often than hungry.
