“N” or “S”: Just a Letter

“N” or “S” – does it matter.  My blog is entitled, “The Power of Words.”  However, does it have to be a whole word that yields the power.  Can just a single letter make a difference, for good or for evil?  My discovery this morning was that a single letter has the ability to impact your life for a very long time, either for the good or the bad.  It is especially so when used or addressed to the impressionable mind of a child in those pre and formative years; words coming from adult figures, especially parents, to whom the child looks for guidance and direction in life; for his or her identify and place in this world.

What brought about this revelation were the words of a song ringing in my head as I awoke this morning.  I can’t remember who sings the song, but the words are, “You’re no good, you’re no good, you’re no good!”  Likely the words being sung were addressed to an adult person who had done some wrong and the situation was being described thus and the songstress was tellling the guy, “You’re a louse; you’re no good.”  But take those same words and tell that to a child of say 7 or 8 years of age and you can damage the child for life, for he or she will grow up believing those spoken words, planted in the soil of their hearts; believing that indeed they are no good.

We need to be so cognizant of our words, especially those directed at children for it will take root and it will shape their lives; for good or for bad.

Though two simple letters, yes the use of one can influence for the negative and the other for the positive.  They are not just letters when strung together with other letters to form a whole word; just a single word.
