Blank Canvas: A Poem by Shammah
Mind blank, canvas unscathed
By the writer’s ink poised to
Etch some wisdom and inspire
Eyes yet to open to behold the dire.
Canvas once pure without blemish
As blank as the ink stand beside it empty;
Once filled with treasured liquid gold,
Ink to dispel the words of wisdom untold.
Blank canvas no more to be
You have inspired me to fill
You up with words from this
Half filled, or is it half empty cup?
I give you oh canvas once unblemished
Words that thou spring to life and
Bring courage and hope to another
Passing by, whose gaze your page does raze!
Blank canvas no more shall you be
And yet the heart that filled you
Is blank as once thou were
Emptied let her read and be blank no more like thee.
The world like the canvas once blank and void
Stands silently gazing upon what
Once was a world filled with distaste
But now echoes words of hope into the empty space.
Give me yet another
Blank canvas to etch
Words from out there, somewhere in
A place yet unborn, shall fill its space.
