I Am Leo: Hear Me Roar

My birth-day is around the corner; Leo the Lion…hear me roar. Ask folks who know me; been known to do just that…found this interesting take on people born under my “sign”. It speaks well in that affirms my own thoughts and knowledge of me, my personality, likes/dislikes, temperament, tolerance level with regard to certain qualities or characteristics demonstrated by folks. Again, I read of my affinity towards people, my care about people.

I can’t help but think of the truth of that revealed in my volunteer work and my short stint as a counsellor (just under 2 years) in a women’s shelter; an amazing job that I couldn’t believe I got paid to do! Contrast that with the personality and flaws that come out of me when my goal or one focus is “things of the world,” and it is like I am two different people; perhaps I am indeed just that, because what is important to me and I feel should be important to all man kind, just doesn’t seem to matter when you are talking about the almight buck $$$$$. When that becomes your primary focus, you are indeed doomed to failure. You might acquire, but it will be a momentary acquisition and ultimately…the glitter will fade – UNLESS – unless the reason for the focus is not the $$$$$$ itself, but what you can do with the $$$$$$$ to better the life of another; to nurture your family, community, society, country, nation. THEN, I think, and only then, would I be at peace in such an environment – because the ultimate goal is not the accumulation of wealth to line already rich pockets, but the getting of the $$$$$ to reinvest it totally and entirely in humanity, in the environment that supports humanity.

Then, perhaps, this Leo wouldn’t roar so loudly in the corporate environment that to her seems to indeed have the $$$$$ as its ultimate and only goal! It’s much like the poem that poured out of me when I was counselling in the women’s shelter, counselling women that came from war-torn countries, who had lost everything, and I mean everything: husbands, children, parents…everything was gone. The poem is called, A God Called Money, and it speaks of the almost instantaneous (and not in a good way) impact the North American environment has on new immigrants who come here with nothing….

If you are born under the same sign, are a “Leo” – well, this is apparently some of the qualities we possess:

A Leo is a social wonder, magnanimous and attracts others to them so easily!
They are great thinkers and speakers.
They are great at hiding truths when needed and know how to keep a secret!
They are loyal and friendly.

Leo does better when working for himself or herself though. They do not take well to authority and they usually think they can do a better job than their superiors and usually they are right about that!
They do not mind hard work but become bored easily.
They need to LOVE what they do or they can tend to fleet from one experience to another.
Leo needs a career path where their social skills, their people skills and their personality can shine!
Leo’s are one of those signs that can actually be great at just about anything they put their heart into. This leaves a wide open window for career choices!
