Photograph Moon & (?Mars?) Over Toronto
I took this photograph the evening of August 25, 2010. I was (or so I thought) only taking a photograph of the beautiful moon shining over Toronto, just north of Lake Ontario. When I looked at it in my camera after taking it, it was then I saw what appeared to be a 2nd moon. Just to make sure my camera lens hadn’t jerked or made an error, I took several more – and this 2nd “moon” kept showing up. Note: When I was looking at the sky, when I was taking all of these photographs, the 2nd “orb” that shows up in the photograph was, not once, visible to my naked eye.
My camera is a Canon Digital SLR – nothing particularly special. I live on the 29th floor (penthouse) of a Toronto highrise, so am “up there” a bit.
Yesterday I received an e-mail newsletter and in it the readers were told to check the sky that evening for what I’d actually photographed 2 evenings before. Yesterday I did go out and take a couple of shots of the sky, but no where to be seen (either with my eye or the camera) was this 2nd orb that you now seen.
Perhaps I was blessed and given a pre-release of what was to happen; who knows! All I can say is it is amazing.
The writer of the news letter informed the readers that this 2nd orb, what would appear to be a 2nd moon, was or is in fact Mars, and he provided the distance it was from the earth and additionally said this will not occur again until some time in the year 2238 (sorry, sometime around then; I deleted the e-mail).
Just wanted to share this with my readers. Is it Mars? Or…perhaps another planet we know nothing about? Noticed the green hues…(smile) little green Martians?
P.S.: Wonder if there is life on Mars, if perhaps they are looking back, down on us? Who knows – I believe anything is possible, and most definitely believe that we humans have been around a lot longer than I certainly have been lead to believe. Keeping ourselves open to the endless possibilities, really does make living an exciting time, now, at such a time as this. To remain open to the endless possibilities is to be truly alive and thus consciously, perhaps, in the moment given eyes to see what…is there but appears not to be there.
Like I said, who knows!
