YHWH’S Garden
How lovely is creation; that part of nature that we get to see every day; that part of Mother earth that we have not yet destroyed. Yesterday while in my car, stopped at a red light, to the left I saw the happiest front lawn, just dancing in the strong winds and sparkling in the sunlight as the dark clouds above were momentarily parted allowing a beam of light, of hope for a bright and sunny future to kiss the array of flowers that seemed to be waving to everything and everyone who passed by. If I had been able to look longer would I have seen a daisy petal slightly cover it’s centre eye as though winking and me, sending me kisses and good luck wishes.
YHWH’s garden – did you know we are His garden, you and I…the colours of the rainbow. Okay, that’s pushing it; I haven’t seen any blue or purple people (yet) but I have seen a multitude of variations of the reds and yellows of the rainbow; the same colours that make up beautiful flowers like the rose (my personal favourite) that we all ooh and aah over.
I like to think that if YHWH had a physical heart, as we know it, we are all planted in the garden of His heart; weeds and all. I think He’s paid just a little too much time to this flower (me) for my liking; all the pruning and digging up at my roots ridding me of things that have infested my root system threatening to shut me down.
YHWH’s garden is an amazing place, if you remove the concrete and stuff; if you remove everything that human kind has built, what is left is what YHWH has created and personally planted Himself, and as the book of Genesis tells us, after He created everything He’d be heard to say it was good, but after He created human kind, well, let me tell you He thought we were awesome; likely His greatest creation. I like to think that following our creation, one of the reasons He ceased from creation was to sit back and reflect on us, on just exactly what it was He had created (besides being created in His image); possibly thinking to Himself,
“Now, how can I do better than this? What could I possibly create next that would outdo this, my latest and best creation?” Perhaps it was at this point that YHWH decided, “I know. They are made in My Image so they have the same abilities as I. Perhaps we should reason together, and together we will come up with something. I think I’ll get my human kind involved and see what they come up with, working together and have them come to me with their ideas. Yes, that’s the plan and how exciting.”
If, as I’ve suggested above (and it is not an impossibility), that is what YHWH decided, and if first human kind knew that He wanted this of them, then likely they were excited too as they took stalk of their surroundings; the who and what and where of where they found themselves; took stalk of each other and joyfully and excitedly talked and worked together to come up with something that they could bring to their Father, to receive His blessing and go ahead. Perhaps Adam was chosen as the Project Manager and all other human kind then would be part of the team appointed to accomplish this task.
I am wondering when the project broke down, started to go wrong. Was it when the project manager got in the way, that is his ego started to rule, make decisions for himself and the others, without their input and cooperation? Was it when, left on their own to come up with a plan, they forgot who had given the assignment and forgot He was available for consultation at all times. Was it when the residents of the garden decided they didn’t need a gardener any more and took matters into their own hands. Without the gardener, the weeds of lies and deception and power and ego and anger took deep root, and even though the residents recognized them, they were too caught up in their own thing to do what needed to be done, to root them out. And so, time passes in YHWH’s garden and His creation, so engrossed in self, becomes overtaken by darkness that has roots so deep, that has grown so much it overcomes them and you can no longer see the flowers for the weeds in YHWH’s garden.
We are YHWH’s roses, thorns and all, in the centre of the heart of His garden. And yet, unlike the flowers in Mother Nature’s garden, we do not celebrate life together, naturally doing and being who we are individually. Instead we try to uproot our neighbours, telling them to move to another corner of the garden with others who look, think and act like them. We banish them to their own kind to make music with their own kind, instead of allowing all to mingle and form an orchestra of music and colour that blesses one another.
YHWH’s garden seems to have been overtaken by the weeds of darkness, dimming the light…and slowly His beautiful flowers, you and I, are being overshadowed and dying off. But, there is still hope, for there is still a ray of light shining through, and if we lift our heads, our hearts…if we allow our roots to dig deep into Mother Earth anchoring ourselves solidly, soaking up nourishment of love and light, then kissed by the ray of light from above, we can and we will stretch up and soon, we shall overshadow the darkness and disperse it, for where Light Lives there is no darkness.
YHWH’s Garden – just as when we were first given the assignment to come up with an idea (though this be my analogy, ask yourself, “Is it not possible?), I feel now, this very moment in linear time, YHWH is depending on us to work together, to pull together, to once again come up with a plan and then put it into action, to allow the Light of His Love to enrich the roots and soil upon which we stand, and together we become a lighthouse, a beacon of light that will once again flood the garden of YHWH’s heart with beauty, life and light.
