Illuminating Thoughts

After writing this blog, the following prayer came to me as I was writing up an excerpt for posting the blog – and I send it out by way of an introductory life giving logos…that these words to be read will spring to life for you in a very, very special way; a way that is yours and yours alone.
What is light, what is brilliance…are they one and the same; is one the parent the other the child? In reading Nag Hammadi scriptures (gnostic) and teachings of Yahshua found therein, I received “illumination”; was given to know exactly what it means to be the “light” for this world and I pass along to you my research and thoughts. May your mind be opened to the infinite, illuminating possibilies.
Last night I was reading from the Nag Hammadi scriptures just before falling asleep. I finally put the book down because I was finding it just too complex; my mind couldn’t seem to wrap around and take hold of the words and their meaning. The language, names and words used seem unusual and are not your run-of-the-mill vocabulary.
When the student is ready, the teacher appears.
I awoke this morning thinking about the words light and brilliance. During the course of my quiet time and meditation, I vaguely recalled some of what I had attempted to read the night before. It was a section on the “Saviour” and I also recalled what I had read had something to do with light and darkness. Today, the word Savior is atypically equated with Yahshua/Jesus.
My thoughts rambled on, thinking about things like: my recent venture down the path of energy and light healing (was it accidental?); Yahshua being referred to as a light; how there is a Bible passage that talks about us being a “light” and that you don’t hide it under a lamp. It was a typical morning where a simple word, just one word, triggered a flood of thoughts.
My thoughts on the word “brilliance” were how we usually use it when we’re talking about how smart some is: e.g. he has a brilliant mind or what a brilliant idea; his brilliance is unsurpassable, etc. I was sensing there was more to it than this; that I’d missed the mark if I restricted the word usage to brain power. I quickly penned the following for follow-up:
- check out Strong’s for the Hebrew and its meeaning, and
- look up references to it in the Bible/Torah
I then re-read the passage from the Nag Hammadi. Wow! I immediately understood what I was reading; no kidding!! It was like someone had “turned on a light” for me (smile
). This is the section I was reading.
The Savior Appears Wearing a Universal Garment, to Free the Light of the Spirit
I had pit on the light <of> the Spirit that Mind had tken. I returned to my place in order to pray to the exalted, infinite Light, that the power <of the light> of the Spirit might increase on his place and become full, not with dark defilement but with what is pure.
I said, “You are the root of the Light. Your hidden form has appeared, and it is exalted, infinite. May all the power of the Spirit become pure, and may it be filled with its light. The infinte Light will not be able to join with the unbegotten Spirit, and the power of astonishment will not be able to mingle with Nature.”
In accordance with the will of the Majesety, my prayer was accepted. The voice of the word was heard saying from the Majesty <to> the unbegotten Spirit, “Look, the power has attained its fullness. The one who was revealed by me appeared in the Spirit.”
I shall appear again. I am **Deredekeas, the Son of undefiled, infinite Light. The light of the infinite Spirit came down into feeble Nature for a short time until all the defilement of Nature was withdrawn.
So that the darkness of Nature might be put to shame, I put on my garment, the garment of the light of Majesty. That is what I am. I took the appearance of the Spirit in order to consider all the light in the depths of Darkness.
Hear what Scripture says (just a few) on light and brilliance.
Gen 1:3 Then God said, “Let there be light“; and there was light. …
According to Strong’s the Hebrew word for ”light” comes from another root word, “owr” which means:
illumination or (concrete) luminary (in every sense, including lightning, happiness, etc.) — bright, clear, + day, light (-ning), morning, sun
The whole world, these days, is on a quest for illumination, happiness, clarity. One must conclude that if one seeks the light (within), these things we seek will be born of us, just as paralletically the very word light is born of the word illumination!
As I write this, the thought just “struck me like a lightning bolt.” We’ve been getting a lot of the raging lightning storms we’ve been having; tornados striking us here in Canada…would it be that the heavens are really really trying to get our attention, to illuminate us. After all illuminate/light/lightning are all products of One, according to Strong’s!
Continuing on with Bible/Torah passages, in John 12:36, Yahshua is speaking and says,
While you have the Light, believe in the Light, so that you may become so Light.
There are many references to and by Yahshua of how he was here to give light; that his purpose was to restore light. This was key to my understanding what it was he was saying in the quote I gave you from Nag Hammadi.
Yahshua also says that he showed up for us here in this world,
Luke 1:79 To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.
You can’t convince this person that we don’t need the light that will guide us and cause us to walk along a path of peace!
We are told by Yahshua ( he said that he does not speak or do anything that is not of and from the Father/YHWH) how we are to function as lights,
Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
A childhood song just came to mind: This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
Are we letting our lights shine, and if we are, are we hiding them. Can people see by our walk that we are walking in light, are light; or are the words and what we profess, just hollow, empty sounds with no life, no light? These questions have just been posed to – ME; yikes?!
I don’t know about you, but I could use some of the following. I don’t want to walk in darkness or be a cause of darkness in another’s life. I want to be a part of the light, the healing and the joy of this world; to put a smile on your face, not to cause another pain or sorrow. I want to “light up your life”, and so, as is promised by Yahshua,
John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
The last Scripture I will quote helped me to see, in “light” of what I read as being the words of Yahshua in the Nag Hammadi scriptures; it helped bring more life and light to through these words of Yahshua,
John 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
May we be open to allow the light that is our brilliance do its mighty works for this beautiful world.

**Note: The name Deredekeas probably derives from the Aramaic drdq’, “male child.” If so, the name may bring to mind the savior-child who frequently appears in the literature of antiquity and is commonly attested in the Nag Hammadi texts – cf Secret Book of John, Holy Book of the Great Invisible Spirit, Revelation of Paul, Zostrianos.]
