Religion Sucks…The Life Right Out of You!

17 Jul

Contemplating, solely on a personal level, the journey based upon the doctrines of religion, I’ve concluded that whenever I’ve gone wrong; made the wrong choices, done the wrong thing, spoken the wrong word, it has been because religion has sucked the very life right out of me.

I was born into an Irish Roman Catholic family.  I was brought up in that religion with thoughts implanted in my soul by words I didn’t understand; yet they took deep root and grew into a full blown forest of dark and ominous trees that filtered out all light, leaving me living in darkness.  Yet, something within me, for as far back as I can remember, questioned what was feeding my soul, my inner person.  I questioned the self-righteousness of a religion that preached piety, good will towards all men, love thy neighbour, feed the poor, help the widow. I questioned this organization called religion, because like the Pharisees of the Torah (Old Testament) they gave me a cup to drink that was bitter, and yet what they gave me to drink was not what they practised.

I recall, later on in years, leaving a Sun-day church service in a Roman Catholic church with my parents whom I was visiting at their snow bird residence in Florida. The priest had complimented the parish and informed the congregants that they’d raised a few million dollars to be set aside for the possible need to build a larger church at some unknown time in the future when he envisioned an ever-expanding parish requiring a much larger church to worship within!  We got in the car to drive away, from the then already very luxurious church and grounds, and as we waited at a stop light to exit the church parking lot I looked and say a young man, sitting cross-legged at the side of the road, dishevelled, dirty and gaunt.  He looked like he was probably an addict of some sort and his eyes though looking right at us, right at me, were hollow; without hope or care.

What’s wrong with this picture my soul cried out?  What’s wrong is here I am leaving this fancy church structure filled with people donating to a futuristic cause when right here, right now…a man is dying right under our very noses.

Religion sucks when it preaches things, when it leads the sheep astray from the true purpose of every human being; the purpose to be human, to be humane, to walked on Legs of Love, to give to those in need, now!

My first religion taught me that if you weren’t part of its “click” then on that fateful day when you died, as sure as you lived and breathed now, you were indeed, “going to hell in a hand basket!”  I was born into a religion that for generations and generations before me, in my own family, taught and instilled that it was imperative, that the very soul of an innocent baby depended upon, that the parents get the new born infant baptized immediately for fear that if the infant died without baptism, that infant was going, “straight to hell in a hand basket!”  Really.  Both of my parents believed that to be a truth, a reality; as did their parents and their parents before them.

Religion sucks the life right out of you.  It may be based on the purported words of YHWH and/or Yahshua, but it is then modified and spewed out with man’s own agenda attached to it!

All of those who call themselves “Christians” do so based upon the life of Yahshua and what it is he was about.  Thus “Christians” were followers of “Christ” and his teachings.

Tell me, whenever did Yahshua tell us to big fine churches and establishments at the cost of the young man dying on the side of the road?  Religion was sucking the life right out of me and I was blindly following its dictates…because, well, because that was the way it had always been, the way of my parents and their parents ad infinitum.  Tell me, where has religion done any of my Irish ancestors any good?  Hell they’re still battling it out in Ireland; “them” against “us.”  For what purpose; to what end is this happening?  If it is ever resolved there will be a winner and a loser. But we’ve all lost because we’ve all been lied to.  We might work it out, but the underlying hatred and anger will remain; seething within, just waiting for that moment to be expressed, and once again go to war – hoping this time whoever was the loser will come out the winner.

Though you may win the war, you’ve lost life.  It has been sucked right out of you and you will never be the same.  You will come out with a feeling of superiority when in fact we know, deep down inside, that indeed, as the Word says, “All men were created equal.”  We are all made in the image of the Creator…so how can one race, clan, organization, community, religion (which is man made) or country claim superiority.  We may be blessed and thus have more material things and opportunities – but is it so, because we are better than another?  Absolutely not, and until we can see that there is a gratitude that needs to be expressed for having been so blessed, for no apparent reason, that attitude of superiority and, dare to say, feeling of, “I deserved these blessings,” will remain and keep us divided.

The same thing can be attributed to the various religious organizations whose mandate seems to be to shove down the throats of the individual that “their way” is the right way!

YHWH, Yahshua nor whomever you may deem to call the Creator and sustainers of life, ever preached religion.

Man was created for relationship, not religion, and until we “know that we know” that to be the truth, we shall continue to allow religion and man’s doctrine and hidden agendas to suck the life right out of us – individually and collectively

Intuition & Crossroads

11 Jul

Wrote another chapter in my book today called, “Crossing Over,” and been busy reading not one or two but four books that I have on the go here at home this week-end.  Then I get this e-mail and go to a site that I am a member of called “Finer Minds,” and come across this quiz to test just how intuitive you are.  I’ve always known that I am intuitive, but wasn’t prepared for just how intuitive I am.  I scored 56.

Now as for the “crossroads” in the title of this blog, I “intuitively” came to a decision, which the world might call nuts; but it just “feels” right for me and I’m going to go for it – against all odds!  When you reach a crossroads, a point where you are being asked to make a major decision, what do you do?  Do you listen to everyone else, balance out what would the “normal” people do; what’s the normal or right thing to do given the circumstances, or do you listen to your heart, your gut….thinking I must be crazy, but this “feels” so right?  It’s scarey, to take that quantum leap of faith…off the praecipe, wondering whether your parachute will open; or what’s on the other side of the mountain or river you’re about to cross.  To go, just as Abraham packed up and went when YHWH told him to go, without even telling him where. Abraham had that “faith” in YHWH, trusted Him implicitly.  “Blind” faith perhaps, but look at what happened when Abraham took that first step of his journey, little knowing what would come of it!

Here’s the quiz from the Finder Minds blog site. Do not read ahead to check the scoring process.  Just honestly answer each question and then tally up your score.  You may just be amazed at your own intuitiveness!

The Intuition Quiz:

Answer options. Write down your answers and tally up your points at the end of the quiz.

  1. Never (1 point)
  2. Sometimes (2 points)
  3. Often (3 points)

1.) You are more of a spontaneous and ‘go with the flow’ type of individual, rather than a planner or an organizer.

2.) You evaluate your decisions on certain situations based on your gut feelings, which often produces the right outcome even if it’s not always practical or logical.

3.) When you meet someone new, you get instant strong negative/positive vibes, which proves itself true in the long run.

4.) You have used your intuition to successfully invest in the stock market or enter contests and win.

5.) You know your life purpose or mission in this world

6.) Whenever you ignore a strong intuitive or gut feeling that’s trying to tell you something, you’ll tend to regret it later on.

7.) You rely on your intuition when making career-based decisions. This causes confusion among your co-workers as you always make the right decisions even with incomplete facts.

8.) You’re a creative person, and you have dreams of brilliant ideas for your art/plans/designs which you often execute to much success.

9.) You often feel worried/excited before something bad/good happens without prior knowledge that this incident was going to happen.

10.) You have had creative ideas for art/books/writing come to you from seemingly nowhere which you’ve acted on and gave you tremendous success.

11.) You can feel when a loved one is hurting, even if you don’t know yet that they are in pain.

12.) Your friends often describe you as “creative”.

13.) You often make major decisions against the advice of “experts” or your loved ones based on what you’ve “sensed”, which always worked out perfectly for you.

14.) You immediately know when someone is lying to you or telling the truth.

15.) You’ve had prior knowledge of a disaster, negative event, illness, or death that later came to pass.

16.) Whenever you feel confused about a direction you need to take or you need to make a big decision in life, you meditate, knowing that the right answers will come to you quickly through this.

17.) You feel a strong sense of connection with people you’ve never met or places you’ve never been to.

18.) You are a highly empathetic person and often ‘take on’ the feelings of those around you, whether you want to or not.

19.) You’ve had a premonition that saved you from danger.

20.) When lost, you’ve found the right path back or direction by using your intuition.

Intuition falls into 4 categories. While most of us are functioning at Level 1 or 2, we all have the ability to function at the highest level (Level 4). Our goal as human beings is to continuously grow from Level 1 to Level 4.

You score 20–30. Level 1 — Warning System Intuition:

At this Level, your intuition will usually warn you when your life is at stake.

Let’s take the September 11th incident as an example. On this particular day, an unusually high number of people have claimed that they experienced dread going to work at the World Trade Centre.

Other examples include those who’ve experienced overwhelming feelings of dread just before making a journey. If you take a look at the results of the intuition contest on our blog post, you’ll see that 60–70% of all stories were at Level 1 — Warning System Intuition. This is where most people’s intuition stand.

While intuition is something we’re all are born with, many people, including yourself, do not get the chance to develop it. Your intuition has saved you from emergency situations, but you generally do not listen to your ‘gut feelings’ which you’re paying dearly for.

Don’t worry though, it’s never too late to start training and growing your intuitive abilities. If you do, you’re in for some amazing insights and a whole new level of well-being.

You score 30–40. Level 2 — Social Intuition:

You mainly use your intuition to tap into the feelings of those around you and those whom you have close relationships with. You are a highly empathetic person and can easily understand those around you.

People at this Level have been known to finish the sentences of those they’re close to, sense danger that’s approaching them like a mother senses danger for her child and are even affected by the moods of their spouses or those close to them.

This Level intuition is common in close groups, but you are more attune to it than others. Being on this Level is greatly beneficial for leaders, families and those in close relationships.

While you use your intuition to relate to those around you, you may also be ignoring it within other areas of your life. You have to keep training and enhancing your intuition skills if you want to experience the great benefits that comes with it. If you keep ignoring these ‘gut feelings’ then they will no longer happen.

However, it’s not too late to get back in touch with your intuition. With a little practice and training you’ll be able to hear and trust that “little voice” inside your head in no time and progress in other aspects of your life, such as your career, life purpose, and wealth.

You score 40–50. Level 3 — Creative Intuition:

Thomas Edison once said, “Ideas come from space”.
Many scientists and investors get their ideas and knowledge from having Level 3 intuition.

Look at the case of Elias Howe, the inventor of the sewing machine. He was struggling for years to come up with the design for the sewing machine needle. One night he had a dream where he was surrounded by cannibals who were holding spears with holes in them. This gave him the idea that the thread hole for the sewing needle had to be at the tip of needle and not at the top. That was how the sewing machine was invented.

History is filled with countless stories of how Creative Intuition has aided in the creation of inventions, art, and designs. Even businesses have grown and flourished because of intuition.

As a Level 3 Intuitive, you are very attuned to your feelings as well as the world around you, which is an amazing skill. Being able to access your intuitive knowledge has helped not only you, but those around you get ahead in life as well.

You most likely use your intuition to not only improve on your relationships, but also your career where you use intuition to creatively solve problems, make the right business decisions or create beautiful art, music or design.

You are most likely a very creative person who is successful in business or the arts.

You score 50–60. Level 4 — Higher Purpose Intuition:

This is the most useful and the most amazing level of intuition. At this level, your subconscious mind works with you and your intuition guides you to move towards your life purpose.

People with this ability are amazingly successful in the stock market or business. Take a look at Sir Richard Branson; he works with over 300 partners, yet he knows within 60 seconds of meeting a person whether to establish a professional relationship or not.

As a Level 4 intuitive, you already know that you should never doubt your inner voice, which guides you through all areas of your life. You know the importance of honing and fine-tuning your intuitive skills and listening to your inner voice. You meditate daily, which helps you make all important decisions in your life instantly — from love to business to health.

You always listen to your intuition which is the reason why you are where you are today. You know that what your are doing now is your divine purpose. By finding your life purpose, you fully contribute to the betterment of society. Your subconscious mind gives you momentum and the push you need to help you complete your life purpose. You are a highly intuitive being that is making a maximum impact onto the world.

What’s Holding You Back?

04 Jul

I am writing this blog, more to me than anyone else who might happen by.  If you do, and if you read it and/or watch the video I am going to share, then I pray you will find the inspiration, the motivation, to..damn it (sorry don’t usually swear, but I think I am angry at myself)…just do it and be grateful that you have everything you need to just do it!

Why is it that it takes something like this video, that I was so blessed to come across, because someone tweeted me on twitter, and I went to their web site (because they are into Reiki as am I) to check them out, and there it was; a message just for me.

I’ve thought about things, planned things, changed my mind thinking, “Okay I’ll do it, but let me …. a little more money behind me….until such and such happens!”  Well, what if; what if those things eventually do happen. Given the track record, I think it’s a safe bet to make that when they’ve been accomplished I’ll come up with some more, “I’ll wait until …. or after this is done ….or…”  Do you get the message?  A life of procrastination, and why?  The other day at work we got news that someone had passed away.  He’d worked for the company for a lot of years and retired in December 2009, bought an RV and was going to take it easy, travelling and enjoying life with his wife.  Six months later, no prior health issues, and he passes away.  I wonder if he’d thought about retiring earlier than he did and then thought perhaps he’d wait until the kids were in college, or the house was paid for, or he had $$$$ amount in his pension plan, etc. etc.  Well, did all that happen?  Possibly.  But look at how much time he had to enjoy the fruit of his labours.  Six lousy months!  That’s it; six months out of (let’s say) 65 years.  Not a lot of fun time when you add it up, is it.  Will his children remember the size of his pension plan a year from now, or his wife be grateful that the bills got paid?  Would they have missed those things more than they now miss their father, their husband?  I somehow doubt it.

So, what’s holding you back – I ask myself (and perhaps you can ask you)?  My answer is, nothing, nothing but me is holding me back from doing what I love to do, from getting joy out of what I do every day and being able to say, “I can’t believe I am getting paid for this!”  I know what that is like.  I once worked at a job where I spoke those exact words and actually found it so rewarding and joy-filled, I thought, I wanted to pay them!  Guess that’s the message, isn’t it.  I was a full time counsellor in a women’s residence and I absolutely loved it.  Why did I leave?  Money.  I needed the money and we all know that if it comes to choose between working in law or in the social services profession  – law beats it by a milesetone as far as the $$$$ is concerned.  But…the rewards!  Now how many working in law can say, or do say, at the end of the day, “God I feel so good!  What a fantastic day.  To see the smile on XXXX’s face when I/we did this or that for him/her?”  Given I’ve been in the profession for a lot of years, I can safely say – very few, very few indeed!

Please watch this video, and then look at yourself in the mirror, see what you have, who you are – be grateful, and ask yourself, speaking your name, outloud, “XXXX, so what’s holding you back?”  Chances are…only you, right?
