U.S. suspends medical evacuations from Haiti

U.S. suspends medical evacuations from Haiti – Yahoo! Canada News.

INTERNATIONAL-US-QUAKE-HAITI

So, tell me, exactly what is the maximum price that is attributable to saving a human life?  Our bank accounts are more important than the health of a brother or sister?  On that day will it be said of most north americans, “I knew you not,” for, “when I was sick…you did not help me?”

I pray I never see a headline such as this attributed to my homeland, Canada; to my peoples!  What’s wrong with a society that must choose between $$$$ and helping another human being?

Israel Wants to Adopt Orphaned Haitians

Published by Shammah under Headline News

News.

The blurb on this “good” news is so tiny, I’ve copied it entirely in this blog.  All I can say is, “Way to go Israel; totally expected of you!”  YHWH bless your reach of love and compassion for others as always!

Israel wants to adopt orphaned Haitians

The Israeli field hospital in Port-au-Prince has been the primary care center for children severely wounded in the massive earthquake that devastated Haiti last week. Many of those children lost the rest of their families and are now orphans.

Israel is looking to extend its goodwill and assistance by also providing those children with new homes.

Israeli Minister of Welfare and Social Services Isaac Herzog said at the weekend that the government is working to forge and agreement with the Haitian authorities that would allow Israel to adopt hundreds of children orphaned by the earthquake.

Herzog noted that Haiti was one of the nations that voted in favor of recognizing the Jewish state in 1947, and that Israel was now repaying the favor.

Relevant Israeli authorities are working hard to cut through the bureaucratic red tape that makes international adoptions so difficult, but Herzog said it could take time considering the lack of unified and strong leadership in Haiti at the moment.

Our Future In The Broken Mirror

Our Future In The Broken Mirror.

A perspective precipitated by the tragedy that is Haiti; the poverty of so many….a nation struck by terror after terror….when will we “human beings” wake up and see that the number one commodity in “life” is just that – LIFE; people, humanity?  It’s not oil, gold, nor even the water so vital to our existence.  What good any of this if none of us exist?  Like Hal Lindsay’s book, “The Late Great Planet Earth,” I say, “The Late Great….Empty” planet earth….devoid of humanity.  Currently we seem to be deplete of what truly makes us “humanity” humane?  We here in North America…the fat cats of the world for so very, very long….how many cars can you drive at one time, or as a former pastor of mine asked, “How many suits can you wear at the same time?”

When is enough ever enough….and what will you and I do when the carpet is pulled out from underneath our feet; when we have to beg in the streets for a bottle of water; when our cell phones, our computers, our cars…all of our “material stuff” is no longer of any use to us?  Do you think this cannot or would not…ever happen to us, because we are Canadian or American (USA)?  If you do, then the blog I posted about being “So Arrogant” belongs to you….and you are indeed a blind fool with, “eyes to see but see not and ears to hear but hear not.”

Where is your treasure?  Can it be destroyed (by earthquake), or eaten by moth, or rusted and corroded by the elements.  Where will you turn when something like Haiti strikes you; will you even know to begin to reach out to your neighbour for help?”  Will you be too proud because of your arrogance, built upon “fools gold” to seek the help of another?  Nations like Haiti who have existed for an eternity on very little, knowing the need to share….they have the treasures that are eternal; they know what to do when tragedy strikes, who to turn to….to each other.  There is no false pride nor arrogance there and if they are blessed in some small way (like a family supported by world vision) they share with others…their meager belongings.

Look in the mirror, what do you see?  Do you see…the tragedy that is you and me?  Can you look deep into the soul of your eyes and know that you do love, unconditionally, the stranger because he is indeed your brother; and when he suffers you too suffer.  Do you see, do you know….can you feel the pain of another oceans away?  Can you hear their cries in your heart; is your wrenched with the tragedy, the pain of the little boy whose arm was amputated, without anaesthetic, in order to save his life?  Does it tear at your gut, make you want to scream out, “LORD – WHY?”  If so, then indeed you are alive, you know the connectedness of all that exists…and you know the need and you know that no matter the distance, but a widow’s might, a lending hand, has a positive ripple effective for the good of all that exists…that you have indeed added to the true treasures, true riches…human kind – YHWH’S GREATEST MASTERPIECE!
